Goshinkan Ju-Jitsu ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website, register for a class or train with us, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website and to the dojos and programs operated by Goshinkan Ju-Jitsu.
Information we collect
- Registration information. When you book a free class or register for a program, we collect the details you enter in the registration form, such as names, date of birth or age, home address, phone number, email address and emergency contact details. For children, this information is provided by a parent or guardian.
- Training and health information you choose to share. For example, injuries or medical conditions that an instructor should know about for your safety or your child's safety.
- Training records. Attendance, belt ranks, gradings and certifications.
- Communications. Information you send us by email, phone, social media or in person.
- Photographs and video taken during classes, gradings and events.
How we use it
- To register students, schedule classes and contact you about classes, schedule changes and events.
- To keep students safe, including contacting emergency contacts when needed.
- To track progress, gradings, ranks and certifications.
- To meet our legal, insurance and association obligations.
- To answer your questions.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not use it for advertising.
Children's information
Many of our students are children. We collect a child's information only from a parent or guardian, and we use it only to provide and administer our programs and to keep the child safe. A parent or guardian may ask to see, correct or delete their child's information at any time (see "Your rights" below).
Photographs
We sometimes share photographs or video of classes and events on this website and on our social media accounts. If you do not want you or your child to appear, tell an instructor or contact us. You can also ask us at any time to remove a published photograph in which you or your child can be identified, and we will remove it from the channels we control.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only when needed to run our programs:
- Jotform (form.jotform.com) provides our online registration forms. The information you submit is stored by Jotform on our behalf under Jotform's privacy policy, and may be stored or processed outside Canada, including in the United States.
- Martial arts associations we belong to, for gradings, certification and insurance, where required.
- Emergency services, or as otherwise required or permitted by law.
This website
- No cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising tracking.
- Hosting. The website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it against abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Video. Our video is hosted on YouTube. It loads only when you press play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. Once you press play, YouTube (Google) may collect information under Google's privacy policy.
- Links to other sites. Links to Jotform, Google Maps, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other sites are governed by those sites' own privacy policies.
How long we keep it, and how we protect it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires, and then delete or destroy it securely. We use reasonable safeguards to protect it, and we limit access to the instructors and staff who need it.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you or your child, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to its use (which may mean we can no longer provide a program). Contact us using the details below. We handle personal information in line with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
